Abstract Submission Guidelines

General Information & Guidelines

  1. Abstracts shall be submitted electronically via the online submission system by 31 March 2018. Abstracts received via fax, e-mail or received after the deadline will not be accepted.
  2. Abstracts are to be submitted into one concrete topic belonging under one of the following areas (for full list of topics, click here):
    • Scanning probe microscopy/spectroscopy and related instrumentation
    • Nanomechanics, nanomanipulation and fluidics
    • 0D - 1D nanostructures growth and analysis  
    • 2D materials, topological insulators growth and analysis 
    • Nanoelectronics
    • Nanomagnetism 
    • Nanophotonics 
    • Nanobiotechnology
    • Nanocharacterization and fabrication techniques
  3. A preferred presentation type should be selected during the submission from the following options:
    • Oral presentation (20 minutes incl. discussion)
    • Poster presentation
  4. Each young poster presenter should decide whether his presentation should be included in the “Young Scientists’ Poster Award” selection.
  5. Abstracts could be amended in the online submission system if saved as drafts (through the “Save as draft” button) and no later than the submission deadline of 31 March 2018. Once the abstract is “submitted” (through the “submit” button) it can no longer be changed, unless requested in writing to the conference secretariat.
  6. All abstracts will be reviewed by the ICN+T 2018 Scientific Committee, who will consider its formal aspects and the content. They will decide which abstracts will be accepted and may consider the final presentation type.
  7. Accepted abstracts will be published in the Abstract Book. Abstracts not suitable for display will be rejected. Please have your abstract checked for correct spelling, punctuation, grammar and formal structure. 
  8. All presenting authors will receive an acceptance/rejection notification via e-mail by 20 April 2018.
  9. All presenting authors are obliged to register by 30 April 2018.
  10. Only non-commercial abstracts can be submitted via the online abstract submission. Should your work present commercial findings or statements please contact the conference secretariat to consult the possibilities of your participation.

Abstract Formatting

  1. All abstracts must be written in English.
  2. When submitting your abstract, consider and choose the scientific topic and the preferred presentation type.
  3. Up to 20 authors can be included (incl. presenting author). Person, who submits the abstract is automatically considered to be the presenting author and contact person for all future correspondence. Authors order could be changed if needed by swopping the names at the list of the co-authors. The first name is considered to be the main author. Presenting author could be amended in the online submission system while managing co-authors. Please make sure you do not exchange your first name for surname, otherwise you will be listed under your first name within the Authors' Index.
  4. The abstract title is limited by 20 words and must be submitted using the Sentence case. Please do not use CAPITAL LETTERS if not appropriate (eg. This is the title of my abstract presented at ICN+T in Brno)
  5. Abstract text:
    • The maximum abstract length is 500 words incl. references
    • The whole abstract should be inserted as a plain text, however formatting tools for bold/italic font and symbols insert will be available
    • Equations may be inserted within the abstract text using the built-in editor. Equation number should be added in a plane text, not within the equation editor and should be always used in brackets. For referencing in the text use the equation numbers in brackets, e.g. "for calculating runoff volume, equation (3) has been used"
    • References should all be placed below the main abstract text. Always indicate the reference order number in square brackets at the beginning of each reference submitted. References should be separated by semicomas (eg. [1] ref. xxx; [2] ref. yyy;...).
    • No Pictures/charts/tables are allowed.
